Outdoor Furniture: Plan for Your Actual Space

THE TARTEEBHOME GUIDES

Compare location, exposure, construction and storage before choosing furniture for a balcony, terrace or garden.

Map the usable area

Measure the space that remains after allowing for doors, planting, drainage points and the route people use. Mark where a chair moves when someone sits down or leaves the table. Count the seats you need regularly before adding occasional places. A furniture set photograph does not establish that the arrangement fits your balcony or includes every accessory shown.

Describe exposure to the seller

Explain whether the space is covered, partly sheltered or open. Describe rain, strong sun and the storage you can provide. Ask the seller which conditions the supplied materials and finish are intended for. Outdoor placement in a photograph is not proof of weather resistance. Request the actual care instructions and any limits on exposure.

Check every component

Compare the frame, surface, woven areas, cushion covers and fittings separately. Ask whether cushion inserts are included, whether covers can be removed and which cleaning method is recommended. Do not assume a woven surface is natural rattan or that a metal frame is rust-proof. Confirm the exact material and coating specification with the selected seller.

Make storage part of the plan

Check where cushions and movable pieces will go when not in use. Compare the largest component with your access route and storage opening. Ask which pieces can be disassembled or stacked and what must stay assembled. If a cover is proposed, confirm its fit and care requirements rather than assuming it is supplied.

Confirm delivery and assembly

Share the floor level, access restrictions and photographs of narrow turns. Ask what assembly is required and whether it is included in the offer. Confirm the timing and charges applicable to your location. Read the product and seller terms before committing, particularly if requesting a different size or finish.

Compare current listings

Browse Outdoor & Garden and compare the individual product details. The department is a starting point; suitability for your exposure conditions still needs to be confirmed. For changes to an existing outdoor piece, include photographs and a clear description in a furniture work enquiry.
